Out of Hours
On weekdays between the hours of 6.30pm and 8.00am, and all day and night at the weekends and on bank holidays, services are commissioned by the Swindon Primary Care Trust. Please call 01793 541111. After assessment of your symptoms you may be invited to attend the Out of Hours Centre which is located in the Clover Unit at The Great Western Hospital.

Home Visits
If possible please try to telephone reception before 10am if you require a home visit. A doctor or nurse may phone you back as it may be that your problem can be dealt with by telephone advice, or that it would be more appropriate to send a nurse, or indeed arrange a hospital attendance.

Cancelling Appointments
If you are unable to attend an appointment with one of the doctors or nurses, please telephone as soon as possible.

This practice prides itself on the provision of a minor surgery service to its own patients and those of neighbouring practices - your GP can refer you to Dr Swinyard if you are not registered at the Phoenix surgery. We also provide a full Contraceptive Service including fitting of Intrauterine devices (Coils and Mirenas) and Implanon implants.

Professional drivers who carry fare-paying passengers or who drive heavy lorries on our crowded roads are required to undergo periodic medical examinations to ensure that their health does not impair their driving.

The Phoenix Surgery is aiming to make these health checks as convenient and economical as possible and will shortly be providing medicals for Lorry, Bus, Coach, Taxi and Private Hire drivers at amazingly low prices.

Lorry drivers have a great responsibility and need to be very skilled - driving large and heavy vehicles, often over large distances and at night, can be demanding. For this reason they need to be medically fit and are required by the DVLA to undergo a periodic medical examination.

The doctors at The Phoenix Surgery are able to undertake these medicals for all LGV license holders, irrespective of whether they are registered at this practice, and at very reasonable cost.

Professional Bus and Coach Drivers hold extremely responsible jobs - safely carrying dozens of passengers in a large and heavy vehicle requires superior driving skills and it is important that poor health does not affect the driver's safety.

For this reason the DVLA require PCV License holders to undergo a periodic medical examination which the doctors at the Phoenix Surgery can provide at very reasonable cost.
